The Jefferson Hotel to Host 30th Annual Tree Lighting

RICHMOND, VA (November 21, 2016) – Festivities will begin at 5:00pm with musical entertainment.   The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5:45pm with the introduction of Mr. Jack Berry, President and CEO of Richmond Region Tourism, and Ms. Robin Starr, CEO of the Richmond SPCA, who will serve as Master and Mistress of Ceremonies. 

The evening’s program includes a host of holiday characters and some of the area’s most talented musicians and performers.  The ceremony will conclude with the lighting of the tree by Santa and Mrs. Claus at 6:20pm.

This event is free and open to the public.  Guests are invited to the Empire Ballroom following the ceremony to enjoy complimentary refreshments. 

Guests of the event may also view the annual Gingerbread Display prepared by Pastry Chef Sara Ayyash and her team.  This year’s confectionary showpiece is a depiction of Santa’s sleigh constructed of thousands of pounds of gingerbread, royal icing and candy lead by four of Santa’s beloved reindeer.  The “Up, Up and Away!” display will be in the Palm Court Lobby through Monday, January 1, 2017.

Holidays at The Jefferson Hotel

RICHMOND, VA (August 4, 2016) – The 30th annual Tree Lighting at The Jefferson Hotel on Monday, November 28 will kick-off the 2016 holiday season.  The event is free to the public and begins at 5:00pm with live musical performances.  The tree lighting ceremony starts at 5:45pm and will feature a host of Richmond’s most beloved holiday characters.  Guests are invited to enjoy cookies, hot chocolate and cider following the lighting of the tree.

The hotel will be decorated for the season from Monday, November 28, 2016 through Sunday, January 1, 2017.  Hundreds of poinsettias, yards of garland and ribbon, thousands of twinkling lights and dozens of toy soldiers will adorn the public spaces.  The annual gingerbread display in the Palm Court Lobby will be constructed of hundreds of pounds of gingerbread, royal icing and candies.

Throughout the season, visitors to The Jefferson will be delighted by the holiday sounds of area musical ensembles performing in the Music at Midday concert series.  Performances are held in the Palm Court or Rotunda and begin at 12:00pm.
